Extensive Reading Program

My friend, Maria, called me yesterday. She was visiting my town for the first time, but she was a bit lost. She wanted to get to the main library from the bus station.

"Okay," I said, "It's not far, so you can walk. Listen carefully."

"First, when you come out of the bus station, you need to turn left. You will see a big post office on the corner."

"Left... okay," she repeated.

"Then, walk straight along that street. You will go past some shops on your right – a bookshop and a cafe. Keep going until you reach the traffic lights."

"Traffic lights, yes," she confirmed.

"At the traffic lights, you need to cross the road. Be careful! After you cross, turn right. You will be walking beside a small park. The park will be on your left."

"Right, past the park..."

"Walk down that road for about five minutes. You will go under a small railway bridge. Keep walking after the bridge."

"Under the bridge, okay."

"Soon, you will see a large building on your left. It has big windows and a red door. That's the library! It's opposite a chemist. You can't miss it."

"So, left from the station, straight until the lights, cross the road, turn right, walk past the park, under the bridge, and the library is on the left, opposite the chemist?" she asked, checking the directions.

"Yes, that's exactly it! It sounds complicated, but it's quite simple when you are walking. You'll be there in about fifteen minutes."

"Thank you so much!" she said. "That's really helpful."

She called me later to say she found it easily.

Reading Tips: How to Get the Most from This Book

Read for meaning. Focus on understanding the main ideas rather than every single word. Encountering unfamiliar vocabulary is normal — use context to help you interpret meaning.

Keep a steady flow. Try not to stop too often. Reading continuously improves comprehension and helps you follow the development of ideas more naturally.

Listen and read together. Use the audio version while reading. This strengthens understanding, improves pronunciation, and develops your sense of rhythm and intonation in English.

Read regularly. Short, consistent reading sessions are more effective than occasional long ones. Re-reading sections you enjoy can further reinforce learning.

Engage with the text. Think about what you read. Asking simple questions and reflecting on ideas deepens comprehension and improves retention.

Extensive Reading Program - A2 Level

The Extensive Reading Program helps learners improve their English step by step, from level A1 to level C2. At the A2 level, students read simple texts that are a little longer and more interesting. They learn to understand the main ideas and talk about them with more confidence.

Reading regularly helps students learn new words. For this reason, the books, articles, and stories in this program are carefully written to include useful words and expressions for A2 learners. This helps students learn vocabulary naturally while they read.

Students can use this program by themselves or with a teacher in class. The levels make it easy to see progress, feel proud of improvement, and continue learning English through reading.
